chname is a very tiny little tool for running a process with a new system host name while leaving the host name seen by the rest of the system unchanged. Linux 2.6.19 or later with utsname namespace support enabled is required.

The program can be downloaded from chname's homepage on Google Code. If you run Gentoo just emerge chname.
